Cooperative Solutions

Welome to Cooperative Solutions.

It is my goal to help people start or improve their cooperatives. I have over 20 years of experience in worker cooperatives and am working towards a Master Degree in Cooperative and Credit Union management.

I aim to provide affordable consultation and strive towards a "see one, do one, teach one" dynamic. I want to help you either manage your cooperative better or start with a strong foundation.

I am also available to work on research projects that your co-operative may need.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping your cooperative.

The Worker's Paradise and E-mail

I write a blog entitled, The Worker's Paradise. It is a discussion on the state of worker cooperatives in the United States and elsewhere.

For those interested, I also send out a monthly newsletter. This newsletter will be a composite of blog postings, questions from readers, and other tips that I have learned over the years of cooperative management. There is no charge for the email and you will never be asked to donate to the blog.

About the web design

I used a template to create the front page and site.

I chose this template for three important reasons:

1. It is an Italian storefront which represents the strong cooperative economy of Italy's Trento and Bologna regions

2. It is a bicycle repair shop which represents the need for us to get back to a sensible economy, in terms of transportation, locality, and the genral need for repair.

3. The bicycle represents Don José María Arrizmendiarreta, the founder of Mondragon. This inclusive worker cooperative economy is the hallmark of what we can achieve as a democratic economy.

Because it is a template and I cannot afford a better option (or have the skills to correct this template), some of the language will be a bit stilted.

"Shop" really means services and pricing.

"Related" means links to coop resources, access to my e-mail newsletter, and various other things.

A little bit more about me. . .

I

I work for taxicab worker cooperative. I spent 8 years on its board of directors, I have been a manager for 5 years with control over marketing and customer service. I have served on the strategic planning committee for 7 years.

I am a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honors society for business students.

I was a member of the Memorial Union Labor Organization which represented student workers at the Wisconsin Union during my college days. During that time, I led a bargaining team in contract negotiations and defended workers in two arbitrations.

I have a BA in English Literature and History. I have dedicated my life to finding a better way to run the world and think that the cooperative model is that method.
